Mt.Kineo Orientation map,Moosehead Lake and surrounds.

Technically sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing. Mt.Kineo fire watch tower placed this map physically oriented to magnetic north and used the blue “horizon band” to pick out specific (and named) mountain features to locate smoke rising from forest fires in the early stages. They would then relay this information to the nearby Forest Service crews who would be dispatched on horseback or on foot with shovels and axes to do their best to extinguish the blaze. This enlargement from the original size of about 15 inches square, is an archival reproduction from a high resolution scan. 24″ x 24″ Giclee Print
